FAQs

DO I NEED A VET REFERRAL?

1

Yes, for all services, we require your GP vet to refer you to us. Just give your GP vet a call. Once they have completed the Vet Referral form, we will be in touch to arrange a consultation.

IT’S A LONG WAITING TIME CAN I GET HELP SOONER?

2

Yes, we provide 30-minute Triage Calls (£75) with our Certified Animal Behaviourist, so you can speak to a practitioner within a week. This will help you and your pet get back on track quickly.
Please note that we need a completed Vet Referral form before booking a Triage Call, and that this call doesn’t replace a full Behavioural Consultation.

Does virtual consulting even work?

3

Though many clients are sceptical, online appointments really can work! There are multiple key advantages that will allow the consultation to function just as well online as it does in person.

DO YOU RECOMMEND ANY BALANCED TRAINING OR E-COLLARS?

4

No. LVBC uses fear-free, force-free, science-based methods and does not allow aversive equipment or techniques in training plans.

CAN I DO A DIRECT CLAIM ON INSURANCE?

5.

We do not accept direct claims. This means you can claim your money back with your insurance after the consultation.

If being “out-of-pocket” for the time between booking and claiming back from your insurance prevents you from booking, please get in touch with us at info@thelondonvet.com.

IS WORKING WITH THE THERAPIST INCLUDED?

6.

Counselling for pet owners is a new service that the LVBC provides, and it’s currently not included in the consultation package.
You can book your sessions directly with Max here.

I have multiple pets. are they all included in the consultation fee?

7.

We require a referral for each pet. Please instruct your vet to fill out this form for each pet you wish to be assessed.
Additional charges apply for any additional dog which needs to be assessed. There are no additional charges for a multi-cat household with up to three cats.

Does my insurance cover a behavioural consultation?

8.

The majority of insurers cover behavioural consultations with the LVBC as the team is fully accredited with the ABTC and APBC. Dr Charlie oversees all medical aspects of every case. Please note:

  • We do not offer direct claims

  • Full payment is required at booking

  • Most insurance providers do not accept claims prior to the consultation

  • Claims are processed by us within 14 days after receiving a request for documents from your insurance provider

  • Claims for follow-up consultations are subject to a £20 admin fee

Can I cancel or reschedule my consultation after I have booked and paid?

9.

We understand that sometimes plans change. Rescheduling can be done via the link in your booking confirmation, up to 48 hours excluding weekends (two working days) before your appointment.
Please contact us via info@thelondonvet.com if you need to reschedule within 48 hours of your scheduled appointment.

Consultations are non-refundable once booked. Exceptional cases are reviewed individually, and decisions to refund are at the LVBC's discretion. Cancellations are subject to a £20 admin fee. View Terms & Conditions.
